Things to do and see near Hartland
With one of the most beautiful coastlines in the world on the doorstep, some visitors need nothing else. But for those with particular interests, there's a wealth of activities to do and sites to see in and around Hartland.
A few ideas of what to do during your stay:

- Spekes Valley cottages are very close to North Devon's rugged Atlantic coastline and lie within North Devon's Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
- Large sandy surfing beaches can be found at Bude, Sandymouth (10m), Widemouth Bay (17m) and Westward Ho!(16m) with many small coves in between to explore. There are other "experts only" surf breaks in the area too.
- Sailing is possible at Tamar Lakes and from Instow.
- There is good fishing at Clovelly Lakes, Hartland Forest Golf Club (both 6m), and Tamar Lakes.
- Docton Mill and Gardens (as seen on TV) can be found just 150 metres down the road from Spekes Valley Cottages.
- Hartland Abbey and Gardens are 3 miles from Spekes Valley Cottages and 3m http://www.hartlandabbey.com/.
- Hartland Quay is 3.5m from Spekes Valley Cottages.
- Hartland village itself is well worth a visit. Situated 4 miles from Spekes Valley Cottages and 7 miles from Gorvin Farm. Hartland has village shops, pubs (The Kings Arms Hotel, The Hart Inn and The Anchor Inn) and some interesting gift and craft shops.
- Clovelly and Clovelly Court Gardens are 2 fantastic attractions close by.
- Other local towns (with approximate distances): Bideford 15m, Bude 15m, Holsworthy 17m and north Devon's largest town, Barnstaple 25m.
